Mark Monghate PhD, PE is the founder and president of Monghate Engineering, Inc., established in 2011 and dedicated to excellence in the design of all types of structures. He is a licensed Professional Engineer with more than 39 years of experience in Structural Engineering. He is licensed to practice in 48 states plus the District of Columbia. He completed his doctoral studies at West Virginia University; his dissertation research, focused on earthquake resistance of multi-story structures, was completed at California Coast University.

Mark’s experience includes analysis, design, and coordination of construction documents for various educational, industrial and commercial facilities ranging up to $720 million in construction costs. His project experience includes schools, hotels, restaurants, office buildings, churches, hospitals, manufacturing facilities, retail grocery stores, lodging, microelectronics, distribution centers, maintenance facilities, heavy and light industrial facilities, and retail warehouses, etc. He has extensive experience in designing with a variety of structural materials including Steel, Concrete, Masonry, Light Gage Steel Framing, and Wood.

In addition to his extensive experience in all aspects of Structural Engineering, Mark has expertise in and has completed work on the design of buildings requiring Earthquake Engineering, Hurricane Wind Load Analysis, and Forensic Analysis of complex structural problems and failures.

Mark has been active in several professional organizations over the years including American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), American Concrete Institute (ACI), American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC), and American Wood Council (AWC). He worked in conjunction with the Structural Engineering Association of California to develop and then revise a publication called “Hurricane Resistant Construction Manual”. Additionally, he has conducted seminars for structural engineering professionals and architects on the topics of masonry, earthquake engineering, and explosion resistant structures.

Mark received several prestigious awards including Tau Beta Pi (Engineering Honor society), Sigma Xi (Scientific Research Honor Society), and Chi Epsilon (Civil Engineering Honor Society).
